It can be predicted that those who will visit Richter Hall in Győr on 25th of March will wittness a sensational concert performed by keyboardist virtuoso, maestro Jon Lord accompanied by a symphonic orchestra and a rock band. Artist, 68 years old in this year, had been spendig his youth in one of the most determinant bands of the rock history, Deep Purple, author of Smoke On The Water, one of the greatest hits of the hard music, where he had been the Lord of „white & black army” for 24 years. When Deep Purple went to have a rest in 1976, he countinued his former work with Paice, Ashton & Lord , then he strengthened with his paricular style David Coverdale’s Whitesnake. In 1984 with old fellows he decided to re-animate Deep Purple by releasing the Perfect Strangers, one of the most relevant albums in rock history, and he had been taking part in the legend for more 18 years.
He has been attracted by classical music from the very beginning of his carreer. The first important milestone of this interest of Lord and Deep Purple was Concerto for Group And Orchestra performed for the first time in Royal Albert Hall, London, in 1969. This was the first endavour in music history that resulted an opus based on encounter of a symphonic orchestra and a rock band. Lord managed to create enduring works by using classical tunes embedded in rock environment.
After leaving Deep Purple, in 2002 Jon Lord concentrated to enhance his carreer as a classical musician. The most important work of this period was Durham Concerto performed with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, released in 2007, composed for celebration of 175th anniversary of Durham University. In spring 2008 Jon Lord presented his new album called Boom of the Tingling Strings.
